1 Peter 2:9-10 (ESV)
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that   you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.    10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Q1 What phrase or sentence would summarize              this passage best?

Q2 What does it mean to be called into his light? How do you walk in this light?

These verses speak to the idea of God choosing us. God looked into the world and chose us specifically. Once we walked in darkness and in opposition to God, but now we can be changed and made into the children of God walking in the light. God claims us as his own. Just think about that for a second. The God of the universe saw you and cared enough to forgive your mistakes and faults. This forgiveness not done by our works or our strength but was given when God showed mercy on us. He has given us mercy and forgiveness and because of that we in turn should be showing mercy and forgiveness to the people around us.

Q3
What are ways that you can show mercy and forgiveness to your friends, family, coworkers, spouse, your bullies/enemies?

Q4 Since we are claimed by God we should be able to live with a sense of security and hope. How does a person live with this security and hope? What are some struggles or obstacles in living this way?
