1 Peter 3:8-12
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
When we feel wronged it can be easy for us to want "justice". If you are pained it is easy to want that person to feel the same pain. However this justice comes from a selfish mindset. That mindset is what causes failed relationships, strain on friendships, and leads to even more pain. The harder choice is really the best choice. Forgiveness and peace must be sought. This is a choice that leads to freedom and stronger community. It has to be intentional. Seeking implies an action. Something one must do. In this case one must seek peace and I believe this peace must be sought in every situation. In our families, with our coworkers, our friends, the people we see on the street corners. Peace has to be sought in all areas of life.
Q3 We are called to seek peace. What are some areas in your life that need this peace?
Q4 What are some ways you can seek peace in your life and relationships?
let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.
