​1. where to start

    In order to start studying the bible you have to first read it. So take some time to read through Luke 19:1-10. Read it through a few times. As you read write down things you observe. Do you have questions? Does it seem familiar? Write those questions and observations on the scripture cross reference page in the study guide.

​2. take a closer look

    Often times we just brush through devotional time. We read as fast as possible and move on. When we do that we can miss a lot of detail in the story, So, this step is to look at the details just a bit further. Ask yourself some questions like who are the important people, is there importance to the location the story takes place in, do you relate to anyone in the story?
​    Once you think through some of these questions look up more information. If there is an important city find a map and look at where it takes place, if there is a specific job title given look into background on how they were looked at in their society. I will link some resources for you to get started on your own.

​3. apply it

    The bible is a book that is alive. Its words should shape us and change us. When we read we should begin to understand God and our role in the world in a deeper way. In the study guide there is a page that will help you think through what you learned. In the space provided write down what you learned about God and what he calls you to do. On the last page write down how you will live these observations out. Most importantly don't just let these truths sit on a page let them permeate your life and actions.

The bible is truly a life changing book. We often forget the importance and significance that it is the word of God. While this is just a simple look at a section of the bible this process of study can help you when reading any section in the bible. So, have fun learning all you can about such a rich text!
